So Much for the Horses

Yeah, not sure I’m buying that either… it took me a long time to recognize a good time.
I still thought the Pacific Classic was a good race. I vaguely remember that quote, was it Randy Moss?

The Pacific Classic was one of those races I have a split reaction to … as a fan, I thought it was pretty good. There was Lava Man, perfectly positioned but just not finding any more in the stretch, while Student Council surges to the lead. Terrific! After, as a handicapper breaking down the race’s time and pace and each horse’s performance, it became so-so and slow. Post-race analysis ruins a lot of visually exciting races …

Good point, I only handicapped it lightly but I’m still not at the point where I’m using pace and I’ve definitely never used it in my post race analysis (yet).
