The Void Online
Jay Cronley on the camaraderie missed wagering at home:
“I had a fifty-dollar winner,” I said to the woman walking the house slipper dog. “Circled them all and kicked their backsides by a mile.”

My own problem with online wagering services lately is how often I see this message on the NYRA site after logging in:

Tote hours are generally 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., says the unhelpful message, which was displayed this evening before 8:30 p.m. — less than 45 minutes after the last race at Santa Anita. Someone should tell NYRA and the New York legislature this newfangled Internet thing is a 24-hour deal.
