Sadness
Big Brown was ultra impressive, but tough to get too excited after what happened to Eight Belles.

American Thoroughbred are getting more and more fragile and horse racing is become a goddamn bloodsport because of it.
Big Brown did look magnificent. Is it just me, or did he look reminiscent of Barbaro when he swept around the turn?

Completely agree. I feel like I should be looking up stats like how fast his final quarter was, where his winning time fits overall, Beyers, etc. — but I just can’t get into it right now.

This was a tragedy. I guess the filly was exhausted in the run down past line and stumbled tragically to her cost. Churchill Downs could do no worse than name a race in her name next year.

Sorry guys but these horses are just too young. I have a Seattle Slew grandaughter that I will be using for dressage. She is turning 5 and we are just backing her now. She looked like an overgrown yearling until she turned 4! You do not get as big as Belle and have the physical maturity to work that hard in three years. We x ray knees to make sure cartilage has formed before we even think of sitting on them!
