Dana Byerly’s out with a smart post about how racing sites can do more to anticipate customers’ needs. She makes a great point in conclusion:
The competition for racing sites (desktop and mobile) and apps are not only other racing sites, they’re also the daily use sites and apps that have well considered user experiences.
Jay Cronley on the camaraderie missed wagering at home:
“I had a fifty-dollar winner,” I said to the woman walking the house slipper dog. “Circled them all and kicked their backsides by a mile.”
“Please stay away from me,” she said, walking on.
The problem with home wagering can be the silence.
My own problem with online wagering services lately is how often I see this message on the NYRA site after logging in:
Tote hours are generally 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., says the unhelpful message, which was displayed this evening before 8:30 p.m. — less than 45 minutes after the last race at Santa Anita. Someone should tell NYRA and the New York legislature this newfangled Internet thing is a 24-hour deal.
